Funding training to help Tasmanians re-enter the workforce

The Rapid Response Skills Initiative (RRSI) funds training for people who have lost casual, full-time or part-time work in the last 12 months due to retrenchment, downsizing or closure. This also includes self-employed people who have closed their business.


We are proud to have been selected by the Tasmanian State Government to administer this important program in partnership with Jobs Tasmania.

The Rapid Response Skills Initiative (RRSI) funds training for people who have lost casual, full-time or part-time work in the last 12 months due to retrenchment, downsizing or closure. This also includes self-employed people who have closed their business. 

Check your eligibility

To be eligible, you must meet all of the below criteria: 


  • have lost casual, full-time or part-time work in the last 12 months due to retrenchment, business downsizing or closure
  • be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with a Tasmanian residential address
  • provide written evidence of job loss, redundancy or retrenchment.

If you are not a Permanent Resident, you must meet these Visa Classes.

What you can do with the funds

If you are eligible for RRSI, you could access up to $3,000 to pay for suitable training and licences to help find another job.


You’ll also be eligible for free advice through the Career Connector service.

  • who have lost their job or been made redundant in the last 12 months;
  • are aged 18-25 years;
  • age aged 45+ years and been out of the workforce for 12 months or more;
  • are migrants who have been residing in Tasmania for more than 6 months, have working rights and are unemployed or underemployed.

We assist employers with introductions to potential workers through this program.  We offer the flexibility of engaging a Career Connector candidate via an on-hired or labour-hire staffing arrangement or our external payroll service.
